The Provost provides leadership in fulfilling the University’s strategic direction to strengthen the academic quality and excellence of the University. With a commitment to creating an inclusive scholarly community, the Division of Academic Affairs works collaboratively with faculty, students and staff to facilitate a distinctive and innovative teaching and learning environment. The objectives of the Academic Affairs Division entail:
Development and strengthening of the academic program. Through continuous evaluation and improvement of our existing academic programs, the Provost’s office works with program faculty to assure that all programs are up to date and employing the best practices in the discipline – to provide students with a first-rate educational experience.
Enhancing the teaching and learning environment. The Provost’s office works with department chairs, the University Curriculum and General Education Committees, and faculty in general to ensure the best possible classroom experience. Using a combination of classroom observation/evaluation and professional development/training opportunities we work to continuously improve the teaching/learning environment.
Expanding student success services. The division of Academic Affairs actively collaborates with the Academic Success Center, the First-Year Experience, the Success Coaches, and the Student Affairs division to enhance and continuously improve student success and persistence to graduation.
Cultivating skills for graduate school placement and career readiness. The Office of the Provost works to promote student success, achievement, and persistence to graduation. In collaboration with Admissions, Career Services, Student Affairs and other University offices, we actively seek to provide our students with the skills necessary to pursue graduate education or to enter into a career in their chosen field.
