Under its new leadership headed by President Aaron A. Walton, and with the support of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Cheyney is on a clear path to envisage a bright future. The University’s compelling vision is to be the premier educational model for excellence in academic, character, and social responsibility. Cheyney’s history and its future legacy are in many ways, tied to its past. A university founded on educating people of African descent for the careers of the future is as relevant today as it was over 180 years ago.

President Walton has assembled a team of talented professionals from around the country to transform Cheyney into an interdependent, more sustainable small college of the 21st century. Cheyney’s overarching goal is to institute programs and strategies that propel the University into the future. That vision is to create and establish Cheyney as the next top post-secondary destination to learn, live, work, and create. To accomplish this objective, the University has engaged Mosaic Development Partners to attract businesses and organizations to establish public-private partnerships, providing internship opportunities for Cheyney students, hands-on learning, career-informed curriculum, and rigorous academic experiences.

Through this innovative approach, the University identifies new opportunities with underutilized facilities, where new partners can create economic value on Cheyney’s campus and incorporate students into their programming. And an exciting group of companies has already joined the Cheyney University family and others are in discussions to do so soon. These businesses include biotech and cancer research companies, agribusiness, lab testing, hemp research and processing, renewable energy, esports, and 3D printing. The University is attracting firms dedicated to solving today’s problems and educating students along the way.

By bringing these focused, coordinated, and well-executed efforts together, Cheyney will become a model for modern post-secondary education. And, we will do it in a way that honors its historic past, while advancing to the future!

See how our partnerships are benefiting our students!
