As an integral part of the Cheyney University Police Department, the Center for Fire Safety Education and Awareness oversees implementation of the campus fire safety program — including education, engineering, and enforcement — and is also responsible for:
promulgation of policies and procedures for life safety and property protection to the Cheyney University community; monitoring compliance with environmental health and safety mandates, specifically Cheyney fire safety guidelines; and serving as a resource to the University community for various fire and life-safety issues.
Through a wide array of prevention and intervention strategies, the Center has moved the University into compliance with all relevant State and Federal laws, mandates, and regulations. Going forward, our goals are to:
- Maximize the number of students, faculty, staff, and administrators who employ effective fire safety practices.
- Reduce environmental health and safety risks through improved data accumulation and analysis.
- Develop partnerships with the wider community, including local police and fire agencies and corporate partners, by inviting their participation and involvement in support of our efforts to implement an unsurpassed campus fire safety program.
