Welcome to the Experience!
FAQs about the First-Year Experience Program at Cheyney
FYE spans the course of the academic year to include New Student Orientation, Destination 1837, Freshman Seminar and Freshman Forum.
We are excited to offer an enhanced, phased orientation for new Cheyney University students! The Experience will incorporate both online and in-person experiences designed to provide a more comprehensive introduction to the Cheyney University experience.
Phase 1: Virtual Experience: Online Orientation
Beginning in July, you will gain access to our Online Orientation program. During this required online experience, you will learn about our community and our history, discover resources, and prepare for success in and out of the classroom.
Phase 2: Live the Experience: Destination 1837
In August, right before classes start, you will Live the Experience through Destination 1837. Destination 1837, our official welcome weekend programming, is an in-person orientation experience where you will have an opportunity to make connections, learn about resources from faculty, staff, and upper-level students, and experience all that our campus community has to offer through a series of campus events. Your Influencer, an upper-level campus student leader, will be your in-person guide your first weekend on campus.
Please note that a final decision has not be made regarding the logistics of Welcome Weekend programming. Stay tuned for additional details this summer.
Yes! All incoming students must complete both phase 1 and phase 2 of orientation. It is a key part of your transition to the Cheyney community! Please note that you will not receive your student ID or class schedule until you participate in both phases.
No! Students will have the opportunity to save their progress, and return to complete remaining sections at another time.
All new incoming students must attend the required portions of Welcome Week. Additional details regarding the schedule and required events will be provided to you in August.
