Cheyney Resident Assistants are peer leaders who are trained to best serve Cheyney students.
More than ensuring that residence hall policies are followed, our RAs act as counselors for students, serve as a constant, primary resource for academic or institutional questions, and help to build community among residents through programming and social activities.
Most students visit our administrative offices a few times throughout the year, whether for assistance with housing accommodations, room changes, or vacating on-campus housing.
Here, they meet with an experienced staff, including an Administrative Assistant and Director of Residence Life and Housing.
Our RAs balance their own schedules and priorities with the needs of the students they are supporting. Above all, they serve as an example of the professionalism and personal accountability standards outlined by the University. Most of our students develop personal relationships with their RAs by interacting throughout the entire day in classes, the café, and campus events. Our RAs strive to be the best, not only at Cheyney University but in the PASSHE system.
Our Support Staff consists of full-time and part-time individuals who manage the Residence Halls during the evening and overnight hours of operation.
Our students’ safety is the first priority of our support staff, and many times throughout the night, our support staff members are making rounds, walking the Residence Halls to ensure that interior and exterior doors are properly secured, and taking the time to talk with students.
Our Work Study consists of students who assist the staff in the office and the residence hall. Their duties are mostly clerical, but they also handle other duties as assigned.
