Application Requirements
- Completed admissions application.
- Official high school and/or college transcripts.
- If required, transcripts must be evaluated by an approved credential evaluation agency.
Foreign Credential Evaluation
- Applicants are responsible for all evaluation and translation fees.
- Evaluations must be completed by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
- A course-by-course evaluation is required to compare your academic record to the U.S. or Canadian education system.
Steps to Complete Evaluation:
- Select an agency from the list of NACES Members.
- Request a course-by-course evaluation.
- Ensure that Cheyney University is listed as a recipient, so we receive the official copy.
English Proficiency Requirement
(Required only for applicants from non-English-speaking countries)
Submit one of the following:
- TOEFL iBT: 79 or higher
- IELTS: 6.0 or higher
- ACT English Section: 21 or higher
- SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing: 500 or higher
Financial Documentation
- Submit a notarized bank statement showing sufficient funds to support your education.
- The minimum amount required is $30,762 (subject to change – confirm with the Admissions Office).
- Submit an Affidavit of Support (financial guarantee).
- Both documents must be included with your application.
Issuing the I-20
- Pay the Advance Registration Deposit before the I-20 can be issued.
- I-20s are issued only after all required documents and payments are received.
- I-20s are sent directly to the applicant or to the permanent home address listed on the application. They are not released to third parties.
- Present the original I-20 and your official acceptance letter to the U.S. Embassy to request an F-1 Student Visa.
SEVIS I-901 Fee

- After receiving your I-20, pay the $350 SEVIS I-901 fee directly to the Department of Homeland Security.
- The fee must be paid before your embassy appointment. Failure to pay may result in denial of F-1 status.
- Visitor visas are not accepted for enrollment at Cheyney University.
