Virtual Meeting Spaces & Classroom Technology

Cheyney University supports technology-enhanced classrooms and meeting spaces designed for hybrid engagement. Many spaces are equipped to support virtual participants alongside in-person attendees using Zoom or Teams.

If you are scheduled to teach or host a meeting in a technology-enabled space, IT can assist with setup, basic operation, and troubleshooting.

Best Practices for Virtual Meetings

To ensure productive and secure virtual meetings:

  • Join meetings early to test audio and video
  • Use headphones or a quiet environment when possible
  • Mute your microphone when not speaking
  • Keep applications and devices up to date
  • Use University-approved accounts to host meetings

Meeting hosts should familiarize themselves with features such as participant controls, screen sharing, recording settings, and accessibility tools.

Accessibility & Inclusive Use

Cheyney University is committed to inclusive technology. Both Zoom and Microsoft Teams offer built-in accessibility features, including live captions, screen reader support, keyboard navigation, and adjustable display settings.

If you experience a technology-related accessibility barrier while using virtual meeting tools, contact IT so the issue can be reviewed and addressed.
