Rewarding Achievement and Supporting Opportunity
Scholarships make higher education more affordable by recognizing students for their achievements, potential, and need. At Cheyney University, we believe that financial support should reflect both academic excellence and personal perseverance. Scholarships do not need to be repaid, and many students qualify for more than one type of award.
There are two main categories of scholarships available to Cheyney students:
-
Merit-Based Scholarships reward outstanding academic performance, leadership, or talent. These awards often consider GPA, extracurricular involvement, and accomplishments.
-
Need-Based Scholarships are offered to students whose financial circumstances demonstrate need, as determined through the FAFSA and supporting documents.
Finding scholarships takes a little initiative—but Cheyney makes it easier by connecting students with trusted resources and online tools. Explore both university-affiliated and external opportunities to maximize your funding potential.
Where to Find Scholarships
Cheyney partners with several programs and online platforms to help students discover and apply for scholarships beyond campus.
-
Scholarship Universe – Our online scholarship matching system for registered students. Complete a profile, and the tool automatically matches you to scholarships you’re eligible for.
-
PASSHE and KEEP Scholarships – Special opportunities offered through Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) and the Keystone Education Yields Success (KEEP) program. These awards support student success across the Commonwealth.
Other Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to federal and external programs, Cheyney proudly offers institutional scholarships that reflect our heritage and commitment to excellence:
-
Bond-Hill Scholarship Program – A distinguished program that supports academic achievement and leadership development among high-achieving students.
- Keystone Scholarship – Offered to incoming students based on high school performance, standardized test scores, or exceptional promise.
